6x + 3y = 9 2x + 3y = 1 Solve this system of equations! How do you do this?! :O

Parth (parthkohli):

Elimination ;).You can subtract both equations and then solve for \(x\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you subtract the 6 from the 2 and the 3 from the 3? Or not... :S

Parth (parthkohli):

\( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow 4x = 8 }\) When you solve for \(x\), then substitute its value into any equation and solve for \(y\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x=2?

Parth (parthkohli):

Yep. Now you solve for \(y\) like this. \( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow 6(2)+3y = 9 }\) \( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow 12 + 3y = 9 }\) \( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow 3y = -3 }\) \( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow y = -1 }\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you just substitute? Thats alll. Wow. Why didnt my teacher make that easy for me like you .____.

Parth (parthkohli):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that ismessed up! :O
