A protagonist is the leading character in the novel. In Lord of the Flies, the protagonist is Ralph because he is the main character. An antagonist is the person(it could also be a force of nature or an inner struggle) that is hostile to the protagonist. The antagonist is Jack and/or the beast. Do you get it now?
