x2 − 8x − 4 = 0.

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

Are you trying to factor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the quadratic formula to solve the quadratic equation

OpenStudy (jackellyn):

a=1 b=-8 and c =-4 the formula is \[-b \pm \sqrt{b ^{2}-4ac}\] divided by 2a so if you plug it in, what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to solve, \(\large x^2-8x-4=0 \), you can use the quadratic fomula... identify a, b, and c in \(\large ax^2+bx+c=0 \) in your equation and plug into: \[\large x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a} \]

i came up with 4+2square toot sign 5

* root .

:) Good job

Although it think it should be + or -, depends what type of answer you were looking for So \[4 \pm 2\sqrt{5}\]
