Fisherman use their knowledge in tides for their catches. Depending on the species and area/water depth in a particular area, fish may concentrate on the ebb or the flood tidal currents. Many strong currents may even concentrate bait and smaller fish. This will attract bigger fish. It has also been interesting to the recreational beach-goers and surfers.

Navigating ships will need to take advantage of the tides, in order for them to take advantage of the tides and currents, so that they can maneuver their ships correctly. Scientists are even concerned about tides, water levels and tidal currents. Oceanographers or atmospheric scientists may study tidal fluctuations to better understand the circulation of the ocean and its relationship to world climatic changes.
