Solid 1: Square Prism with each side of the base equal to 8 in. and a height of 8 in. I need to be able to draw this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's a cube.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so each side is 8 inches

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or do they all have to equal 8 when adding

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, you said each, so that means each side is 8 in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you find the volume, surface area, of the cube

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Volume of a box is always length, times width, times height. Since all the dimensions are the same, it's just the side length, cubed. The surface area of each face, similarly is just the side length, squared. And since there are six faces, the surface area is six times the area of a single face.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the length of the side is \(s\), the volume and surface area are given as follows. You must memorize these formulas, or at least remember how to generate them.\[\text{Volume} = s^3\]\[\text{Surface Area} = 6s^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you show me in a formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

what is 6s squared
