Theoretical lab: Two equal masses are attached to a horizontal string at a height of 50 cm. The two vertical columns holding the string up are 75 cm apart. One mass is tied to the string with a 30 cm thread. The second is tied 15 cm away from the first mass, with a thread 10 cm long. Pull the second mass back, and observe he oscillation of mass 1. Continue this procedure, while lengthening the thread of mass 2 every time. At what length will mass 2 create the maximum oscillation of mass 1? Would mass 1 only have a large amplitude of vibration in only one case?
