is this correct? problem states to find the difference problem=> (7x^3 - 6x^2 + 6) - (2x^2 - 4x -9) my answer is => 7x^3 - 8x^2 + 6 + 16
WHere did the 4x go?
(7x^3 - 6x^2 + 6) - (2x^2 - 4x - 9) 7x^3 - 6x^2 + 6 - 2x^2 + 4x + 9 Can you solve it now?
? i lost it.. then it sould be ? 7x^3 - 8x^2 + 4x + 15
Yup. The only purpose of the parentheses is to show that you have to distribute the -1 to the entire trinomial. See what I did? You distributed the negative?
yes i have one more to see if it is done right can i post here?
Sure.
add the polynomials => problem is (3x^2 - 5x - 7 ) + (9x^3 + 4x^2 - 9) my answer was => -9x^3 + 7x^2 - 5x - 16
So close. 9x^3 + 7x^2 - 5x - 16
thats what i had posted is theat wrong? if so please show me how to get it
You got it, but there is an unnecessary negative. Probably a typo?
oh i c it now you are correct it is not supposed to be -9 thanks for pointing that out to me. appreciate it.
You're welcome :)
i am gonna hang it up for the night. appreciate it
