This is a 45-45-90 triangle. Remember the ratio? |dw:1339468600672:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know what ratio is but in this problem what ratio using the angles or sides??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just plug in 7 for x. You see, x√2 --> 7√2. Just idivde by √2 in order to get both a and b.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright let me try thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are not the same length correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a and b are the same length. c is different though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright i got 7 then for a and b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you have a or b and need to get c, just stick a √2 next to it. If you need to get a or b, just take away the √2. If there is no √2, divide by √2.

thanks alot !
