why are there so many different time zones? i mean there are GMT, EDT, EST, PST, IST, etc. it's just so confusing!! why??? o.O what's the difference??
It's because we have different longitudes and the time is according to that. If we have one time zone then we'll have 11:00 AM as midnight, somewhere in the world :D
Uni-time zone is a bad idea for the world
i know there are different times..if you look at the question i specifically asked why there are different types. why not just GMT?why isnt there a standard measurement
I think that it's because we have different conditions in different parts of the world and different time zones make it more specific ^_^
conditions?
Imagine two countries(India and US here). Now it'd be day in India and night in USA. If we have the same time zone for both then it'd be difficult to sort em out.
Well leave that part, but it makes a lot more sense to have day as 6 AM to 6 PM and night as 7 PM to 5 PM.
well i can just call india as GMT 530 and USA as GMT -4 it's easier to notice the number of hours of interval between each other
It's the astronomers who did this =.= and I think it's much more convenient with different time zones.
for example Manila is GMT +8 and india is GMT +5:30 therefore i know philippines is 2 and a half hours advanced than india
advanced? lol
in terms of time lol
it would cause mass confusions especially for airports and all that
Yeah I reckon @lgbasallote has a point :) It would be easier if they just had the + or - hours but all the same letters XD
