1.1m ??

a machine gun fires 25 gm bullets at the rate of 600 bullets per min with a speed of 200m/s . calculate the force required to keep the gun in position.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

50N

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how??? can u do it here???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yah, the change in momentum gives us the force! the bullets exert a force on the bullets which is 25x600/1000(200-0)/60=50 N.thus a force of 50N will keep the gun in equilibrium!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i meant that the bullets exert 50N on the gun!

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

@eccme in the answer to first qsn you forgot to convert min to sec. correct it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did ujjwal!

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

oh, yeah. sorry, emerging physicist! you should have put them in parentheses. that confused me.
