For the following system, if you isolated y in the first equation to use the Substitution Method, what expression would you substitute into the second equation? 2x + y = 8 -x - y = -5 Answer -8 - 2x -8 + 2x 8 + 2x 8 - 2x

So, isolate y in the first equation and what do you get? If you only had the first equation and you were trying to solve for y, what would you do?
would it be 8-2x
Yes, the only thing you have to do to get y by itself is subtract 2x from both sides.
