The side chain of serine can form a hydrogen bond with the side chain of which of the following amino acids? threonine asparigine Can someone explain why this is? What other amino acids can form hydrogen bonds with serine?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

serine has hydroxyl group on its sides chain.Threonine also has hydroxyl group on its side chain. Arginine has -NH2 group at its side chain. Having -OH and -NH2 allow amino acids to hydrogen bonded to each other.

try to get a good grasp of the functional groups. here's a good video lecture by Dr. Bill at Carnegie Mellon U http://finedrafts.com/articles/100/functional-groups the rest is reading your textbook
