To discover his world, and his life where he belongs, and is not just an add on. At Hogwarts, and in the magical world, he is accepted, and treated with love and equality, whereas in the Muggle world, he is abused and rejected. The entire theme is a boy finding his place in the world and doing extraordinary things.
