Just starting out here, what kind of time commitment should we look to put in to get the most out of this. I know it is at your own pace but too slow and I will probably forget things. Would anyone recommend how often they did things like lecture 1 day a week coursework in between. (is there an old course Schedule that I am missing)

Well I did 2-3 video lectures per day! And make all the sets before the next lectures! xD

The most important thing is the Problem Sets. I've watched lectures 3 and 4 several times each and still can not code Problem C without looking at the solution. Just go at your own pace and if something stumps you, Google it. ;)

i will always recommend this book "programming Python an introduction to computer science" it makes much sense and breaks Python into its simplest form
