(x+4)/3=2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you could start out by multiplying the 3 out so that x+4=6 then subtract the 4 to get x=2

Parth (parthkohli):

Multiply both sides by 3. \( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow x + 4 = 6 }\) Now subtract 4 from both sides. \( \color{Black}{\Rightarrow x = 6 - 4 = .... }\)

Parth (parthkohli):

Do you know what isolation is?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

\[\frac{x+4}{3} = 2\] \[\Rightarrow x + 4 = 3 \times 2\] \[\Rightarrow x + 4 = 6\] \[\Rightarrow x = 6-4\]

Parth (parthkohli):

Well then - isolation means 'to make the variable a subject in the equation'.
