I'll give you an example Set A= {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}. 

A subset of this is {1, 2 } another one {3, 4} ,  {1} , {1,5} etc..But  {1, 7} is not a subset, since it contains an element (7) which is not the set A. 

A is a subset of B if and only if every elementa of A is in B.
