(-x^4-xy^3+y^4)+(x^4-x^3y-5xy^3+xy^3)-(7x^4+2x^3y-xy^3) =?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

let's get rid of the parentheses \[\large -x^4 - xy^3 + y^4 + x^4 - x^3y - 5xy^3 + xy^3 - 7x^4 - 2x^3y + xy^3\] is that easier??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sory but i still cant get it

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

how abt if we join like terms \[(-x^4 + x^4 - 7x^4) + (-xy^3 - 5xy^3 + xy^3+xy^3) + (-x^3y - 2x^3y - x^3y) + y^4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you its clearer now

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

great!!! ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-x+x is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

zero

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

^yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basically you need to cancel the x"s now right?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

yep if possible

OpenStudy (anonymous):

last question how did you tpe the exponents?!

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

click the equation tab by the reply box..you should see a symbol something like \(a^x\) or somethin
