Find the slope of the line below. If necessary, use a slash ( / ) to indicate a division bar.

OpenStudy (phi):

no line here. But the slope is the change in y divided by the change in x start at a point. count up (or down) to get to the level of the second point. that is the change in y. count over to get the change in x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is the graph

OpenStudy (phi):

so start at the first point at (-1,-4). how far up do you have to go to get the the 2nd point?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think 3 idk

OpenStudy (phi):

do you see the tick marks on the y-axis? count up using those.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nine

OpenStudy (phi):

are you sure? I see 8

OpenStudy (phi):

You count how many steps up (so the first tick mark does not count) think if you were walking, how many steps?

OpenStudy (phi):

now count how many tick marks on the x-axis to get from the 1st point to the 2nd point

OpenStudy (phi):

the slope will be how far up divided by how far over you got 8 for how far up. what about how far over?
