trying to integrate: (1+B*(Sin x)^2)^(1/2) do i start with a trig sub?
ellipsoid integrals have no solution.
it calculates perimeter of ellipsoid
elliptical integral :(

I used to calculate perimeter of ellipsoid with two diamonds in figure of above but forgot the formula so offer to you to do that.
I remember that the tangent diamond (larger one) has perimeter near to ellipsoids.
thanks. with your help i looked up some of the solutions for elliptical integrals (i had heard of them but never studied them). my problem seems to fall under 'elliptic integrals of the second kind' and there is a series approximation which i think i can use. also, l like your diamond approximation for the perimeter. i may use that in the future.
Yes there are many ways to find it out with numerical analysis also but that diamond gives you a close formula by a,b . Have fun.
