What is the exact value of the expression 8 sqrt 15 + 5 sqrt 5 + sqrt 15 ? Please show work

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

If we let x = sqrt 15 and y = sqrt 5, then we get 8x + 5y + x Can you simplify this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9x+5y?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Good, now just replace x with sqrt(15) and y with sqrt(5) to get \[\Large 9\sqrt{15}+5\sqrt{5}\]
