Can someone explain how the solution got equations 3.9 and 3.10 in the challenge problems from module 1? I understand up to equation 3.8. Thanks in advance! Here is the link to the solution: http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/physics/8-01sc-physics-i-classical-mechanics-fall-2010/units-and-dimensional-analysis/MIT8_01SC_problems01_soln.pdf

OpenStudy (btaylor):

If you notice, the instructions right before 3.9 have a reference to the footnote, where they say they got the 1.25 In 3.10, they divide our deduced value by the given value (3.1/1.25) to get 0.4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why do we divide to get the coefficient?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah why do we divide?
