What's the correct equation of the line passing through the point (-1, 7) and perpendicular to y = -x - 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well use y = m x + b like this ... hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7= m *-1+b plug in the y and x you are given since a line perpendicula to -1 is just inverting it and multipllying by -1 you get 1 7=1*-1*b sfb 8 y=1*x+8 i think :)

was i right?
