It is upto u to try & get the answers now^_^

First cross multiply. Then u get
b(2y+a)=a(2y+b)
2by+ab=2ay+ab
2by-2ay+ab-ab=0
2by-2ay=0
2y(b-a)=0
y=0 or b-a=0
b=a
OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):
ya sorry I forget to write one statement.
good work @ajprincess.

This one is good:)
\[\LARGE{\color{green}{b-a=0\implies b=a.}}\]
OpenStudy (ajprincess):
Ya it's really gud.:)
OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):
thanx:)
OpenStudy (ajprincess):
u r welcome.:)

@ Aj how come its either y=0 or b-a=0
The option is y=0 not b-a=0 also

OpenStudy (ajprincess):
what are the options u hav?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
y=0
y=1
y=2b-2a
OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):
ya according to ur question variable is 'y'
so answer will also be of 'y'
but a & b are taken as constants.
& a=b is a condition in which the above eq. become equal.
So choose \[\color{red}{y=0}\]
OpenStudy (maheshmeghwal9):
don't matter about a=b; it is only a condition
but true answer is y=0.
since u have to find the value of "y".

k thanks
