where and how can you get LaTex?

If you want to get it for your computer, there's a couple places you can get it. This is a short tutorial for a windows computer.

First, go here http://tug.org/protext/
After that, click "download the self-extracting protext.exe file."
Select "ProTeXt-3.0-070811.exe"

Once that's downloaded, execute the .exe file. This will extract a folder to a directory of your choosing. Go into this folder, and click setup. You should see two install options. One will be MiTeX and the other is TeXMakerX. You must install both of these.

Now you're ready to write in \(\LaTeX\) on your own computer. You just need a text editor for the source file. What I use is something called TeXworks. I can't remember if it comes with the ProTeXt download, but its an easy to use text editor specially designed for \(\LaTeX\).
