What enables archaebacteria to live in extreme environments?

I don't really study bacteria that much details so i might make some mistakes here.

archeal membrane lipid is different from eukaryotes and bacteria. The lipid lacks head groups, has tepene alcohol side chain, and the non-polar chain joins to glycerol by ether bond. this allow lipids to resist hydrolysis and oxidation in extreme conditions.

basically there won't be much effect since they are adapted for extreme conditions. But if is cold environment, then it'll be different story.
