An interesting proposal for OpenStudy users that will make the system fairer and dynamic :)
I love it!
We need a team, a team to handle, a team to manage this whole system. Of course, the moderators are there, but we need the help of the experienced users. I have an idea for this. \(\cal{\text{The fair team - }}\) This will be a team of experienced users who are familiar with the system and know how to manage the site. The members of the fair team may be or may not be a secret to the normal users.
Ehh, too much trust given that would be more people for the mods to have to keep an eye on. Active doesn't mean responsible or mature. I'm not sure I love it... Creative though.
Here's the features available to them - - They can warn people who are cheating or gaming the system by direct answering, not necessarily the people who are abusing in the chat. - They can take back the medals if some user has directly posted the answer. - They aren't as powerful as the mods, but they can act like them when in need.
I just don't think I can go for it...*Jim Carey voice*
Here's the list of features not available. - Suspending. - Attending abuse reports. - Deleting posts. - Other minor things available to moderators.
C'mon guys. We need to do this. We can't make the system unfair. It'd be even more interesting if we have them as a secret! What do you say, guys?
This will be something like a volunteering job for OpenStudy(like the ambassadors).
I think we're still not on topic, so let's plan more to make this detailed.
this will be nice but this should not be based on the medals .. this should be based on the nature of the person ..... btw moderators are enough for this ... Why are we making this whole system complicated... We will not be able to interact with each person .. we will have to think about that is he / she that secret users
@ParthKohli We should wait for that ..........Everything is not possible at a time... and also u r right we need some fair team that is just among us who are not so seniors to whom we can talk easily !!!
This job stands for those who wouldn't be able to become moderators, but we may say that they're good enough to be in the fair-team. Not everyone on OpenStudy is a moderator, and we must give a chance to everyone for participation.
So, I'm generally opposed to complicating the power structure of the site. Our current power structure is simple, we have moderators and regular users. There are different varieties of moderators, but they all serve the same purpose and have similar powers. In addition to that, I'm not sure this is a problem that couldn't be addressed by getting some more moderators online during the dead hours (which @cshalvey is working on).
may be u r right @ParthKohli but we shall take 1-2 days to think about this implementation
right @farmdawgnation u should chose some moderator from different countries so that time zone will not make effect on the level of the questions answering
This may decrease the work of a moderator. I'm not saying that they must be called the fair team. They may be called mini-mods or something.
we should not focus on the name of this .. but we should focus on the matter not the title the real context..
<---Colm disapproves of this idea ;D
You're missing my point. I'm not really concerned about names. I think it makes things more complicated than just moderators and non-moderators, and I think that complication is not needed.
I think that this is worth a close then. What say? :D
Maybe we could work on this, since the system isn't perfect. I guess if we work more on this post, we'll reach to a conclusion that'll change the site forever :)
I think Farmdawg came to a conclusion.
Then duck should close the question(if he thinks this is the end)
right @farmdawgnation i said earlier that this will make os more complicated ..... here students should be able to talk and ask questions in their independent way but if we introduce this system then this will give a feeling of a school instead ...(student-1 , teachers -2)
and more unnecessary power to people who don't need it.
Well, do keep in mind that I don't have final say on anything. I'm just one voice from the team. However, I suspect the others will agree with me. @cshalvey might have some more specific comments as well.
we should think about some thing different or should close this thought
@ParthKohli There was no reason for you to change the question. It wasn't a bad idea, I just didn't particularly care for it. :P
I think i agree with farm on this, we don't really want to take over the site by ourselves you know, we can't just take the mods jobs. Even if it would b cool to do parths idea, im still onto having the mods do their regular job:)
lol
I'm reverting your edit sir. :P
O Lord!
If you really believed it was a fail idea you would've closed the question ;P
^ Done
omg PArth I didn't mean close it xD
Lol. Parth closed it.
Lol i think he did
it just dissapeared hahaha
I crushed the poor kid. Oops.
becca y r u dressed as colm?
lol I think mods should be able to open questions back
What do you mean Karatechopper?
WUT?! thts allowed??
This is supposed to go to chat.
hush:P its a closed question
No, because you'd expect to be on it, and quite honestly, as cool and genius as I think you are you couldn't handle that responsibility.
Whenever I post a tutorial, sat dominates. Whenever I post a proposal, admins dominate.
Stop deleting the relevant comments!
Who said I want to be on the fair team?
Just wondering - where did the term 'answer fiend' come from? Did shadow name it?
Farm is afk. Can any mod come and open the question for me?
@ParthKohli wait for the correct time ..
Eh @cshalvey
you finally broke down and tagged a mod :P
Deserved a tag right there.
Epic fail. He hasn't come yet.
He must be afraid of my beard. ; {) >
he has a shorter beard:P
I know he went to the barber like 15 hours ago... it's a shame
