Which equation is a quadratic equation? y = -4(3x + 2) y + 3x3 = (x - 2)(3x + 8) y - 3 = (2x2 + 11)(x - 1) + 3x y + 5x = -2x(4 - x) + 1

OpenStudy (btaylor):

a quadratic equation is ax^2 + bx + c. So one term has to be squared, but 2 is the highest degree. the first option is only degree 1, the second is degree 3, the third would be degree 3, and the fourth would be degree 2 (if you multiplied them out). So y + 5x = -2x(4 - x) + 1 is the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Quadratic equations have the highest power as \(x^2\). Try distributing some of them a bit and solving for \(y\) to see which one has \(x^2\) as the highest power.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Y+5x= -2x(4-x)+1
