mitosis: cell division of somatic cells, it helps the body replace damaged cells and its what makes the zygote grow into a mutli-cellular organism, produces 2daughter cells which are genetically identical to parent cells..
meiosis: cell division of germ cells, produces egg and sperm cells which 4 haploid daughter cells and therefore are not genetically identical to the parents cells that undergo division. very useful in sexual reproduction.
