HELP!!!! What is the average velocity of the object represented by the graph? A.5 km/s B.6 km/s C.30 km/s Graph Link:http://curriculum.kcdistancelearning.com/courses/PHYSCIx-FN-A09/a/exams/EM-UnitExam/PSAFDN_Unit5_Exam_13q.gif

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

From the graph it looks like the object travelled 30 km in 6 hours - correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes!

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

so average velocity = distance / time taken

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it is C?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats what am asking

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

so average velocity = (distance travelled) divided by (time taken)

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

are you sure you have listed the answer choices correctly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh i get it

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

because the value you get will be in km/hr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its A and yes i listed them correctly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I copy and pates the Question and Choices...So it has to be correct

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

30 km in 6 hours means average velocity = 30/6 = 5 km/hr i.e. object travelled 5 km in every hour

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

Answer 'A' indicates it travelled 5 km in every second

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

unless the graph is not correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the graph is correct....am so confuse...

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

these types of online course can sometimes have mistakes. is there someone you can check this with? my guess is that the answer choices are listed with incorrect units.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes i have someone i can check with...and i guess the choices are incorrect because on the graph it says "time/hours"

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess am gonna go with A since its right if we were dealing with hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But thanks for the help... at least u helped me learn a little something

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

ok - the main point however is that as long as you understand how the result was derived - that is more important than matching any answer :)

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

and yw :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

True...i am about to post up some other question i need help with...please, if u dont mind helping.

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

I'll try :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh thanks
