what is the inverse square law?? Please thoroughly describe what it means
The inverse square law can be described as follows: The intensity of a field of radiation is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source of the radiation. The inverse square law applies to any system with spherical wavefront and negligible energy absorption.
All the basics Laws in Physics such as gravitational law, Coulombs law they obey/follow inverse square law... if i have to explain someone briefly i would say its simply follow inverse of square of the distance b/w 2 things.. and if we ask why is that square only why don we consider cube or something else.. well then u must remember surface area of a sphere (which is 4πr2) and most valuable and generally available shape in our nature is the spherical shape... why this is so it is another thing which can be discussed... but u need to remember one thing is that a point charge is always consider as sphere rather than a box or something and same is the case for earth and there are proofs for such things.. till now u myt hav got the satisfactory answer dude.. stay cool..
