Tell whether the function f(x)= -x^2-5 is an even odd function & describe its symmetry a.even , symmetric with respect to origin b. even , symmetric with respect to y axis c. odd , symmetric with respect to the origin d. Odd , symmetric with respect to y axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets plug in f(-x) into this equation to achieve f(-x) = -(-x)^2 -5 = -x^2 -5 and notice this is equal to f(x) so this function is even by the definition if f(x) = f(-x) the function is even and is symmetric with the y axis so the answer is B
