what is the zeemann effect?
zeemann effect shows the existence of a third quantum number-magnetic moment. when a magnetic field is applied the spectral lines further divide showing that diff. electrons have diff. mag. moments.
makes sense! how would u measure limb darkening using spectras of the sun?
Limb darkening?
yes, the run of temperature through the sun’s photosphere
Oh.Sorry,i don't know about that effect. They do not teach such stuff in high school :)
Maybe they use stefann-boltzmann law: spectral intensity is proportional to fourth power of the temperature
Oh.Does ratio of spectra means ratio of wavelengths?
idk what their talking about...
idk too. But,if you get a ratio of wavelengths of the radiations from the center of the sun to that from the surface, you can get a relation of temperatures.
that would be very interesting! think you can find a website on that?
maybe,i'll try.You study astronomy in college?
no i am in highschool going to an astronomy camp next week. Have any ideas of research i could do??
I wanna help the astronomical community, and wanna do something that hasn't been done before. I wanna do something with galaxies..
Oh,good. You can work with unified theory.
i get access to extremely large observatories in arizona
great.i'd love that :)
