The midpoint of a line segment with end points as (-10, y1) and (-6, 7) is (-8, 6). What is the value of y1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use midpoint formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ym=(y1+y2)/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(y1+7)*(1/2) = 6 solve for y1 y1=5

Okay so this shape. Which is the orthocenter of triangle PQR? Point S, because it is the point of intersection of the three altitudes of the triangle. Point O, because it is two thirds the distance from each vertex. Point O, because it is the point of intersection of the three medians of the triangle. Point S, because it lies outside the triangle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well it has to be the one where it is the bisector. Each 3 sides must have a bisector and the lines meet

I have to complete a quiz tonight and i don't know anything i just want it done and over with. So what point would it be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Point O, because it is the point of intersection of the three medians of the triangle. just remember that simple rule :)
