PLEASE someone help me, and explain it to me: Use graphing technology to find one of the approximate solutions of 0 = x2 + 10x + 3. Round to the nearest hundredth. Answer x ≈ –9.69 x ≈ –0.68 x ≈ 0.31 x ≈ 7.32
The question on may be prompting you to use a graphing calculator but this site also has the ability to find intersections and root, which are where your function takes on a value of ero. http://fooplot.com/#W3sidHlwZSI6MCwiZXEiOiJ4XjIrMTB4KzMiLCJjb2xvciI6IiMwMDAwMDAifSx7InR5cGUiOjEwMDAsIndpbmRvdyI6WyItMTYuNjQiLCIxNi42NCIsIi0xMC4yNCIsIjEwLjI0Il19XQ--
I am still very confused...
describe what you're confused about. normally you have an equations of the form:\[y = x^2 +10x+3\] but when your given what the result is, ie: \[0 = x^2 +10x +3\] what you are finding are the point which have a value of: \[y=0\] or where the function crosses the x axis. if you are able to see aplot of the funciton you just have to identidfy these points.
But it is asking for a solution. Is what you are giving me that?
Solution in this case means x-values. The question could read: What are the x-Values that will give you y-values of zero.
What x-values, when plugged into the equation, will give you a y value of zero
Ok, so since I need to find the x vaule... how do I do that?
