Why is it that you can not keep more than on question open at the same time?

We used to have it so you could. It cuts down on spamming. At least I think  that is part of it.

As rebecca mentions, we previous did allow users to ask as many questions as they would like. What we saw, however, is that this resulted in a shotgun technique whereby people would ask all of their questions at once to increase the probability of getting answers.

Since our goal is for quality learning to happen, not just answer giving, it makes sense to have users restricted to asking one question per group. The goal is to have the asker focused on *learning* that one problem before moving onto the next one.
