Observe the composite figure below. The bottom shape is a cube with base edges of 6 inches. The top shape is a right pyramid with a height of 4 inches. What is the surface area of this composite figure? 180 in2 60 in2 240 in2 36 in2

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

6*6*5=180 + 4 time area of a right triangle =180 + 4*...? so can you calcule area of a right triangle from the shape ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

the height of pyramid is 4 inches or the height of a triangle side of píramid is 4 inches ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

ok so than the height of píramid is 4 inches than you need to calcule the height of a triangle side of píramid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

you can calcule it from triangle what will get from the height of pyramid and the halfed part of the median of the top side of the square and the height of a side of pyramid so than will be using pythagora the height squared of a side of pyramid = 4^2 + 3^2 h^2 =16+9=25 h=5 so than you canm calcule area of a side of pyramid =6*5/2 =15 so than the lateral surface area of pyramid will be 4*15=60 - so now just you need assuming 180+60=240

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so this was understandably for you sure ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes? lol. the answer is 240... ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

yes sure is 240 inches squared

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

good luck bye
