Vaccines are technically "Dead" Viruses (but "technically" speaking, Viruses aren't 'alive' in the first place, they're properly referred to as "Broken Viruses".

The reason why broken Viruses are injected to us, is because our Immune system can "memorize" a hostile virus (or bacteria) that invades the body for the first time, and when the body gets infected with the same virus again, the immune system immediately recognizes it, and prevents it from harming the body or prevents its ability to reproduce—thus, making your Body "Immune" to that Virus.
