Instead of giving someone a medal could I have the option to give them a nickel? Its purpose would be to give to people who have copy pasted questions similar to something like: "Which of the following properties is not indicative of trisomy 21?" and then answers follow A, B, C, D... without asking for any specific help whatsoever. So yeah, could we have nickels?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

People arnt allowed to give answers only help so giving medals lies in the askers hands

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some mods go back tho and delete comments giving answers tho and I think that takes the medal back too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nickels?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was thinking the same thing lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean ill put a PayPal thing up if you just wanna give me nickles you can keep the medals lol

OpenStudy (kainui):

No, I mean nickels as in like how you see a street performer and you just throw nickels at them and keep walking.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So like..how exactly do you propose we implement this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like I said ill give you my PayPal info throw nickles at me all you want

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I'll make a paypal for that xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol OS can keep their medals ill turn them all in for nickles

OpenStudy (kainui):

No, nickels are a bad thing...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nickels are money... lol

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

So, what you are suggesting is something called negative reinforcement. It's similar to downvoting a question. We've intentionally steered away from these reinforcement mechanisms in the past because we want our community to teach and encourage rather than simply press a button that indicates their disapproval. Does that make sense? I may not have done the best job of explaining it. heh.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think you did fine :)

OpenStudy (kainui):

No, that's fair. I think having any negativity is a bad idea since this is a very sensitive thing. People coming here looking for answers might end up leaving with actually learning something.
