on a basketball team, the starting players' scoring averages are between 14 and 28 points. Write an absolute value inequality describing the scoring averages of the players
but my answer choices were: a: |x-21|≥7 b: |x-7|≥21 c: |x-21|≤7 d: |x-7|≤21
|x−a|≤b This represents the set of all points (x) that are less than or equal to b points from a. a is the middle point between the min and max. To find it, you need to find out how far they are apart: |min−max| Divide that by 2 and you get b. min + b = midpoint = a max - b = midpoint = a
this is good information i dont know how they are getting 7 and 21 when the numbers are 14 and 28
Use my equations and put in min = 14, max = 28 Solve for a and b and then put them into the first equation.
thanks that helped .
