$4000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can put \(x\) = amount of money invested at 3% then since the total was 5,000 the amount invested at 3.5% is \(5000-x\) and solve \[.03x+.035(5000-x)=155\] for \(x\)

may be easier to remove decimals by multiplying by 1000 and solve \[30x+35(5000-x)=150000\]
