King argues in "Why We Crave Horror Movies" that horror movies have “a dirty job to do": they feed the hungry monsters in our psyche. Write an essay in which you put King’s thesis to the test. Briefly describe the first horror movie you ever saw; then explain its effect on you. Like King, speculate about the nature of your response—your feelings and fantasies—while watching the movie.

Have ever watched horror movies and if so which one was the first one you ever saw?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here is what i have so far

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My first Horror Movies that I have seeing was called The Leprechaun. I was about 12 or 13 years old when I have seeing this movie with my sister, brother and my cousin. We came to watch this move after all the adults when to bed, because that was the only way we can watch it. We were not allowed to watch this tap of movies in the house. The Leprechaun is about an evil, sadistic Leprechaun goes on a killing rampage in search of his beloved pot of gold. When Dan O’Grady returns to the U.S. after stealing some Irish’s pot of gold, he thinks he can settle down and enjoy his newfound wealth. Boy did he think wrong. The Leprechaun followed him and O’Grady barely gets away whit his life, having looked the little monster in his basement. Ten years later, J.D. and his daughter Tory move in. By some accident, the leprechaun is now released from the box it was in protected by a green leaf and immediately the creature starts to look for his pot of gold. That night after going becand are parents back to watch this movie man was I scared. I got up to go to the bathroom and my brother said to me the leprechaun is in the bathroom waiting for me I told him he was just joking but for some resin I think I did see him so I rein back to the living room.

If I were you you should compare your feeling to what the king felt while watching his horror movie to yours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also answer question like did you watch this movie in the dark or were the lights on and how did having the lights on or off intensify or deintensify the scariness of the movie

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How are the Leprechan and Dan O'Ogrady connected?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to clarify a few points in the paper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well Dan took his pot of gold

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could put the sentence like this In ? (what country) a person by the name of Dan O'Grady stole the Leprecahns pot of gold angering the leprecahn. So when Dan O'grady returned to the United States after stealing some Irish’s pot of gold, he thinks he can settle down and enjoy his newfound wealth.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

elaborate on the movie a little bit more focusing on the parts that scared you making you jump or close your eyes then compare you feeling at that time to the kings feeling how were they different or the same. what caused you to feel that way was it the music they played just before something happened?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also proof read your paper when you are to make sure the wording flows when reading it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you
