a(8)=40
a(14)=?

Then start thinking how you get from 12 to 40 (this is why they use these series and sequences in IQ testing)

Yep! And how I did this was to actually find this as a linear function, since we were only given two points.

y=4x+8

now make a(n)=4(n)+8

It checks out fine for both 1 and 8
