You are a scientist studying large, flightless birds in Australia and Africa. How could you use molecular biology to determine if these birds evolved from a shared common ancestor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to start, study the similarities in proteins, RNA, and DNA. the more similar, the closer the relationship, the greater the chances that they share an ancestor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, by comparing the RNA and DNA and seeing how similar they are it can be determined whether or not they share an ancestor?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah. proteins, too because the other 2 determine proteins.

oh okay thank you!
