Choose the correct description of the solution to the inequality x - 16 > 5x. A.) Closed circle on -4, shading to the right. B.) Open circle on -4, shading to the right. C.) Closed circle on -4, shading to the left. D.) Open circle on -4, shading to the left.

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

that's an "\(>\)" and not a "\(\ge\)" sign. So, has to be a hollow circle, isn't it? So open or close? An solve that inequality to find which part would be shaded.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its open. (:

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Yup. :) And what about the shading? Can you solve this inequality and reduce it to it's simplest form?

OpenStudy (saranya):

Open circle on -4, shading to the left. Combine like terms on the x, then put it on a graph. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you guys!! (:

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

|dw:1340211365320:dw| this is so because the inequality reduces to \(x<-4\)
