Okay, so I think the prerequisite's for becoming an Ambassador are:
1. "long-term" member...I liked @lgbasallote 's idea of 30 days of studying
2. Good standing with other members, not someone who is constantly causing problems
3. Someone who is friendly and welcoming


We don't need to make this too complicated. All we are supposed to be doing is figuring out how to get it up and running and make sure we have people that are dependable. An ambassadors main job will be to welcome new users, show them around and give them basic tips.

Again, the ambassadors need to have a factor. The 'unbiased' factor. I guess everything related to ambassadors is unbiased. Heh.

Is for the Ambassadors to welcome new people. As a Committee we should be unbiased but honestly, as an ambassador there won't be much to be biased about. They are helping new users and that is all.

You can't really be biased if they are new...
If you have personal issues with other users that is something you need to deal with. It is not the job of the Ambassador to do much with old users, as an Ambassador. As a friend or other user, yes. But it's not really in the "job description" so to speak.

They help them when needed but this goes back to, the ambassadors job is to welcome new users. It's simple. It does not need to be complicated. Anything outside of welcoming new users is of their own choice, but not necessary.

The main job of an ambassador is to be nice to people no matter what so you could be raised as an example in the OpenStudy community. If you are a good example, you may influence the new users and they'd become nice. This will certainly get OpenStudy a lot better.

Why is ash considered as a good ambassador? Because he is a good guy. All the ambassadors welcome the new users, but Ash has the 'nice' and the 'unbiased' factor.

I yesterday observed that you didn't want me to name one ambassador. That's exactly what I am talking about. No one should hate an ambassador, and that happens when you are nice to people.

Of course they'd be expected to be socially involved and be polite as most humans should be. But they don't go "here's your gold sticker" now go smile and make us look good.

We have the job of welcoming new users and showing them around. Colm stated our (very simple) tasking in the Ambassadors group.

I asked you very nicely to NOT bring him up and I would be greatly appreciative if you refrained from doing so. I never want to hear that name or any implication of it.

What are the criteria for selecting an Ambassador?
I asked you all to discuss this and report back to me. So if you are ready and have a consensus, you can report to me.
Who is the Chair of this committee? Who is the scribe who will submit the report to me?

You have not been empowered to make anyone an Ambassador yet, because we do to have a selection criteria. So the comment, "if you fill out this form we will see if you are good enough to become an Ambassador" is a little ambiguous. Is that your selection criteria?

@Preetha I'll submit it to you! :D Here's a file that everyone has pretty much agreed to with slight variances and off topic arguments. I changed a few things from the original to put in other users' input. Let me know what you think!
