x^3-4x^2>0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, when we carry a term from one side to other side then we do exactly opposite of it.. Let me explain: x - 3 = 2x - 4 If I want to carry 3 on other side then, Here 3 is negative, then on carrying other side it will become positive.. x = 2x - 4 +3 Got or not?? Similarly, + becomes - on other side, - becomes + on other side, * becomes / on other side, / becomes * on other side...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, here if you want that -4x^2 should be carried to other side, then what you will do @kman1357 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@waterineyes divide -4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No buddy, It is a negative term and how negative term is carried to other side, I have just said above, Now to carry a negative (-) term, what will you do @kman1357 ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@waterineyes switch signs?idk math is my low spot...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If by switching you mean positive then you are right.. -4x^2 will go to right hand and its sign changes to +.. So, above equation will become : x^3 > 4x^2 Getting or not??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a little is that the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Buddy cool down, we have to find the value of x.. Now what do you think what is cancelling out there???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i dont ok!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Rewrite the equation: \[x^{3}-4x^{2} > 0\] \[x*x*x-4(x*x) > 0\] \[x*(x*x)-4(x*x) > 0\] Since AB + AC is the same thing as A(B + C), do the same to what's above.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Wired huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Compare them to each other. In this case, both parts have (X*X) in common. That's A. B is the X on the left, C is -4 on the right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@wired but i need an answer im timied right now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the profit if you only require the answer and not the solution how to reach at that answer...???
