HELP...... Which of the following is not a step used when graphing the equation y = −1/5x - 2 using the slope-intercept method? Plot the x-intercept (-10, 0). Plot the y-intercept (0, -2). Draw a line through the two points. Count down 1 and right 5 from the y-intercept.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you have y-intercept readily available as "-2" in the given equation. so there is no need to compute x-intercept so.. which step is not needed ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this one. Plot the x-intercept (-10, 0)

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

ofcorse there is need to compute x-intercept @ganeshie8 ,,afterall,,you have to plot this line..4th step is the only useless one according to me..

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

think again @shubhamsrg see, you were given slope in the question. which is becomes redundant if you plot it using two points , right ?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

ahh i see..yes yes,,rightly said..but still..if she finds out x intercept with taking notice of the slope..and proceeds as given in the algorithm,,she does nothing wrong,.,till the 4th step i guess..

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

agree.. :)

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

lol..i meant without taking notice ** in my previous post :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so which one is it

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

i'd still say 4th one :)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

first one :)

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

need a third party opinion now! ;)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

dont need lol... both are correct. let her math teacher decide may be.. :)

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

hmm..
