distance = speed x time
since sound from the tank heard after time 2.1sec, so, distance between gun and tank is distance= velocity of sound*time taken by sound=340*2.1=714m Now we know the distance between gun and tank. and we know the time in which bullet reach to tank, so, velocity of bullet =distance/time=714/0.6=1190m/sec
@ramkrishna Sir, but in my book answer is given as follows: - distance=510m. & velocity= 850m/s.
In my book there is solution too but I couldn't understand that: - In the solution, time taken by the sound is given as 2.1-0.6=1.5 & then he calculated the remaining part But why did the solution took the time taken by the sound as 1.5sec. ?????????
got it. we have problem in understanding the meaning of question; we have to improve english also. OR, we don't read the question properly. 2.1 second is the time interval between the gun shot and the burst of the shell's sound heard. and 0.6 second is the time interval between the gun shot and the burst actually taken place. So, the time taken by the sound of burst to reach us is 2.1-0.6=1.5sec
