Jean Gray earns a graduated commission on 4% on her first $2,000 of sales and %8 on all sales over $2,000. Jean's sales for the past week totaled $3,925. What was her commission for the week?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2000)*.04 is the initial commision for the first 2000 calculate the amount of money over the initial condition ( 3925-2000 ) multiply by the % earned on the commission .08

OpenStudy (cranberry):

ok so if I multiply the first 2000 X 4%, then 1925 X 8%,added together I get #234.00 is that correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

trust your calculator, or use wolfram alpha, but yes that does look correct
