Hi.  I am new here also.  What I have done to date has been to review the lectures and do the assigned reading.  I have downloaded Python but I have not learned how to use it yet.  Of course after I do learn to use it I will begin doing the assignments.  Also interacting with the various study groups helps as well.  Good luck!

Each problem set is (essentially) designed to force you to implement certain concepts. Don't slack off on doing them, and make sure you do them as the prof's would want you to....do....them....
